Leadership means that a group, large or small, is willing to entrust authority to a person who has shown judgement, wisdom, personal appeal, and proven competence. Through high school, Ashton Noel Gilbert has been heavily involved in FCCLA. (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.) FCCLA is the only high school organization that has family as one of it’s central focuses, and is completely student led. The son of Shannon & James Gilbert, Ashton has shown many of the qualities of a young leader. In his time in FCCLA, Ashton has held five offices in two years, which is the national record for most offices held, and in the shortest time. He often talks about how some of his favorite memories in high school came from being a part of this organization. Ashton has traveled all over the nation to represent Texas’s FCCLA delegation, and has always been proud to do so. “There’s been a ton of fun stuff to happen in FCCLA. I’ve met some celebrities, gotten several job opportunities, and had an amazing experience.” Ashton said when asked about his overall time in FCCLA. FCCLA has influenced his life so much, that while Ashton attends Angelo State University, he will be living on campus with a fellow officer he knows from Sterling City. With Ashton’s personality, the world holds endless possibilities for him, Thankfully we know they’re all good ones. |
