2019 UIL Academic District Results
Guthrie HS won the 2019 UIL district academic championship. That included points from the Spring Academic Meet as well as the CX Debate and the One Act Play contests held earlier this year. The two other advancing schools were Benjamin High School and Jayton High School. Taylor Moore earned an Honorable Mention All-Star Cast Award, and Hallie Richardson and Kaleb Brendle earned All-Star Cast Awards. JJ Gibson was honored with the Best Actor Award. The troupe of "The Last Night of Ballyhoo" will perform again at the Area 2 Region II One Act Play Contest hosted at Wylie High School on April 5, 2019.
Due to possible weather conditions, the Jayton Track Meet Schedule has been altered. All running events will be finals only starting at 12:00. Field events will follow, weather permitting.

JJ and Taylor competed at the State CX Debate Competition and earned a spot in the Octo-Rounds. By advancing this far, they rank as one of the top 16 teams in the state. Congratulations to JJ, Taylor, and their coach Ashley Branch!
On Saturday, March 23rd, beginning at 2 pm, Guthrie CSD will host the 15A/16A UIL One Act Play Contest. The Class of 2021 will provide a concession stand throughout the day until awards. Here are the participating schools and plays in performance order:

Guthrie High School OAP competed at Spur High School on March 5th, and will advance to the Bi-District Contest held at Guthrie on Saturday, March 23rd. Best Technical Crew Awards went to Abby, Levi, Sheridon, Brittney, and Coulter. Earning Honorable Mention All-Star Cast Awards were Taylor, Faith, and Rachel. Kaleb and JJ earned All-Star Cast Awards. Hallie received the Best Actress Award.
Guthrie FCCLA has done a great job this weekend! Hanna McCulloch placed 1st in Career Investigation. Rachel Brendle, Coulter Reel, and Sheridon Smith placed 5th in Chapter Service Project. These students will compete in the State FCCLA competition in Dallas on April 4th-6th. Rhonda Brendle was also named an Honorary Member. Everybody worked hard at their competition and in their volunteering efforts! Big congratulations to Cassie Daniel for preparing her students. Congratulations to all!
