Our teachers will continue working with parents and students as we attempt to navigate our new distance learning format. We know this situation presents challenges for everyone involved, and we will remain flexible as we work toward solutions together. Whether face-to-face or operating at a distance, our primary focus does not change...we are and will continue to be fully committed to helping our Guthrie students grow and mature in all ways.
As you may already know, Governor Abbott announced a new executive order this afternoon. One element of this order is the extension of statewide school closures until May 4.

When a few of my classmates and I were setting up the steak dinner for Aspermont our junior year and I accidentally dropped the 2-5 gallon container of tea on the floor. It broke and tea went everywhere. It took almost 15 minutes to clean it up, a mop and an endless amount of towels. What is your most creative excuse you’ve used to get out of doing homework? I never used an excuse to get out of doing homework. I just got it done. Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now? Living a comfortable life and working in the medical field. Make sure you take time to chill and do not do things you don't have to do. We have been closely monitoring information surrounding disease spread, and we have stayed in close communication with local and state government and health officials as we grappled with some incredibly difficult decisions for how to best serve and protect our Guthrie family. Today, we are taking a step we’d hoped to avoid...our school will be closed Thursday, March 19 through Friday, Marcy 27. We currently plan to return to school on Monday, March 30. This is a quickly evolving situation, with new information seeming to emerge every hour, so we will continue monitoring developments and assess the conditions through next week. Even if there are no changes to our plan, we will update parents and students again by next Friday, March 27.
Our teachers have finalized logistics on distance learning options to utilize while school is out. They’ll be communicating directly with parents and/or students during this closure as we strive to continue promoting growth and learning in all areas. During this school closure, please avoid travel to cities identified as "hotspots" and avoid interacting closely with individuals who have been to those areas. We live in an incredibly rural community, so we know limiting all travel is not feasible for most of us. We are simply encouraging everyone to remain thoughtful of our actions during this time, as our goal will remain a return to school as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we move through these difficult, and sometimes confusing, times together. Stay safe, and have a great day, Jags. Thursday, March 18 & Friday, March 19 as well as Monday - Friday, March 23-27 the Guthrie CSD & King County Library will follow the same protocols of the CDC & Guthrie CSD safety and closure procedures on the COVID-19. However, if you need anything from the library, I 'should' be home and will be happy to help you get materials, or services, we provide. Please call ahead just to be sure.
