The Guthrie CSD library has started its very own book club! The club was thought of and put into place by Jaycee McCauley with the help of JoAnn Shipman and Romy Ferguson. The first book the club has started reading is Before You Meet Prince Charming by Sarah Mally. Jaycee was the one to recommend the book and said, “ The book definitely made me see dating and marriage in a different light and made me think about so many different things that have never crossed my mind. I wanted the girls in our school to also experience this awesome book.”
Mrs. Shipman says, “The book is a guide to preparing young girls for making one of the most important decisions in their lives, which is about relationships with boys, the dating scene, and future marriage partners. The book uses a study guide for the girls to use personally to review, learn and grow, and search their inner hearts. The book uses a sense of humor, Godly principles, and a fairytale allegory to ‘draw pictures’ that will hopefully help attendees better understand the principles. Illustrations, memory verses, and practical assignments will challenge students and make this a perfect book to use for small groups.”
All girls, 6th grade and above, are invited and most welcome. They meet every Wednesday at 11:30 in the little gym foyer. The goal is to read one chapter a week and to answer the questions in the study guide as well. No one will ever be singled out, asked to speak, and the study guide questions are personal and confidential. The library wants to make sure everyone has the best time and gets the most out of it as possible! In the words of Jaycee, “I'm so excited to see how far these girls are going to take this book! I can't wait to see what steps they'll take towards purity and God’s way for dating. It's amazing that our school can do things like this, and I think we will all change the way we see dating and marriage after reading this book. It will be awesome to see what God does these next few months!”
