The Jaguars took a trip 30 miles south to take on the Aspermont Hornets and keep their great season going. They did just that defeating the Hornets 66-19, in a exciting game by the Jaguars. The spectacular offense from Guthrie started with the ball and picked up once again where they left off from the previous week. Tucker Brendle took a hand off right up the middle for a 4 yard touchdown run.
The Jaguars defense came out slow and allowed the Hornets to score 13 points in the first quarter. But as soon as the second quarter came the defense came and the Jaguars were on fire.
Back on offense, the jags did what they do best. Run the ball. Brendle took a sweep and ran it in from 44 yards out, with exceptional blocking by the Jaguars front line. Christian Rocha added the extra point and it put the Jaguars up 16-7. Rocha was 5 for 7 on extra points. The defense stepped up and made a huge stop and got the ball back. Back on offense, Landon Roberts took it in again on run from 39 yards out. That run put the Jaguars up 24-7. But the Jaguars weren't done yet, on the next kickoff Landon Roberts took it back all the way to the house with a 68 yard kick return.
Not letting the Hornets score, the Jaguars got the ball back and immediately scored on a pass from Quarterback Christian Rocha to Tucker Brendle. The score was 40-13. Again with a huge stop on defense, the Jaguars went back to work on offense and scored on beautiful 38 yard pass from Rocha connecting with Dion Vasquez. At this point the Jaguars look like the team that was playing the first two weeks of the season. The Jaguars had a let down and let the Hornets into the endzone but came roaring back with a touchdown of their own. With time running down in the half, the Jaguars picked up the tempo and scored on 26 yard pass from Rocha to Roberts ending the first half.
After the half, the Mean Green were determined to end the game, and that is just what they did. Scoring on the opening drive with a 15 yard pass from Rocha to Brendle. Back on defense the Jaguars got a huge turnover from the duo of Graden Garrison and Tucker Brendle disrupting the backfield. Garrison recovered the fumble and gave the "O," the ball back. Wanting to end the game, the Jaguars threw a pass and ended the game. Zac O'Neal received a 49 yard pass from Rocha ending the game.
Even though it was an ugly win for the Jaguars, they still got their business done and kept their opportunity for a great season alive. Come out next week and watch the Jaguars play the Rotan Yellowhammers in Guthrie at 7:30. Hope to see you there.
