Hello everyone! It is time for the third Book of the Month! This month, the genre is Science Fiction. During the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday make sure to curl up with one of these good books!

PreK - 2nd grade Book of the Month
Benjamin McFadden and the Robot Babysitter by Timothy Bush

Benjamin McFadden is stuck at home with his robot babysitter while his parents are at a party. She will not let him have fun! He tries and tries to convince the babysitter to stay up a little later, or have a snack, but she won’t have any of it. Benjamin finally figures out how to reprogram the robot babysitter to have fun, but that’s when things get out of control. Pretty soon, ALL the robots are having fun, breaking things, and making a giant mess! Benjamin tries frantically to stop them before his parents get home. Will he fix it?

3rd - 4th grade Book of the Month
Galaxy Zack: Hello, Nebulon by Ray O’Ryan

Zack has just moved away from Earth and is very nervous about starting school and meeting new people. He gets even more nervous when he has dreams that his classmates are aliens, and that he’ll never be able to see his Earth friends again! On his first day of school, he makes a new friend and everything is okay, but there are a lot of differences between Nebulon and Earth.

5th - 8th grade Book of the Month
The Giver by Lois Lowry

Set in the future, twelve year old Jonas lives with his perfect family in a world of obedience and serenity. He has a great life with his family and friends. But, when he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory, he starts to unravel the dark secrets of his community. With the help of the present Giver of Memory, he wants to make things right. This book is full of twists and turns and adventures on every page! This book was also turned into a box office hit movie! I recommend seeing it, but only after you read the book.

9th - 12th grade Book of the Month
Divergent by Veronica Roth

In dystopian Chicago, the society is divided into five factions: Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On a certain day every year, sixteen year olds choose which faction they want to be in. Beatrice, who was raised in Abnegation, is torn between staying with her parents, or becoming her own person. What she chooses shocks everyone, including herself. Full of action and survival, and a bit of romance, this book will have you on the edge of your seat!
