Our students in Mr. Wilson’s Graphic Design and Illustration class have taken 2-D design to a whole new level. The students use programs like Adobe Illustrator to trace and create 2-D projects. Students have learned skills like patience, time management and that everything won’t always turn out perfectly. The fifteen students in the class really enjoy what they do and love to show off their creations.
In the class, students use Adobe Illustrator, which none of them knew how to use when they started. They all started out with simple pictures and traced them, forming vectors. From there, they could color in the vectors and make a picture, or print it out on the Cricut. This is the very first year that Black Box has had the Cricut. The Cricut is a machine that will cut out any design you’ve made on materials ranging from paper, vinyl, card stock and fabric. So far, in the class, the Cricut has printed mostly vinyl stickers. The students have had so much fun being able to print out their designs!
All the students have made stickers for themselves and a few of them have started putting them on the website and selling them. Every Wednesday, new stickers will go up on the website under the store tab. All stickers are designed to be car stickers and are 5” by 5”, but if you would like smaller ones to put on your phone or laptop, just send them an email. The more money we make, the more supplies we are able to buy to make you even more stickers.
