As a school, Guthrie has been spread a bit thin when it comes to UIL Academics. With ours being the second smallest school in the district, we have always had to pile the events on to our students to stand a chance against the larger schools. With this year’s alignment change, Guthrie no longer has to compete with as many schools. Last year there were approximately 700 schools in the State taking part in the 1A division. This year that number has been dramatically reduced to somewhere around 350 schools. Guthrie is now in a six team district with Patton Springs, Knox City, Motley County, Paducah, and Spur. This year would be a great chance to send students to Regionals and State! Now that our district is smaller, Guthrie students stand a better chance of advancing in their competitions. With the help of it’s students, Guthrie could dominate! |
