The Guthrie National Honor Society is sponsoring a coin drive, and the proceeds will be donated to the Lubbock Children’s Home. Students can bring money that they wish to donate any day from Monday, November 5th to Friday, November 9th. The drive ends at 1 pm on November 9th. The rules for elementary and secondary are different. The elementary class with the most points (one cent = one point) will be rewarded with a “hot chocolate Grinch party”! The secondary class with the most points will be rewarded with a “hot chocolate Grinch party”! Here’s how the point system works for secondary: Coins count as positive points (in the amount of the face value in cents). Paper money (bills and checks) count as negative points (in the amount of the face value in cents). For example, let’s say a senior drops two quarters in the senior bucket. That’s 50 points added to their total. Now a freshman comes by and adds a dollar bill to the senior bucket. Now they lose 100 points from their total! So join in on the fun, and send money for a great cause!
