Imagine Your Story Summer Reading 2020 WILL be performed in the year 2021!!! We’ll explore the world of stories together in the Guthrie CSD & King County Library. Fairy tales, folk tales, funny stories, scary stories, adventures, mysteries, and so much more. Just read a book and discover new worlds! Summer Reading begins Wednesday, June 9, 2021 and will continue every Wednesday through July 7th. We will have an ‘Awards Field Trip’ sometime between July 16th and July 30th depending on accommodations’ from a couple of entities we are waiting to hear from. Usually we visit an educational venue, Gatti’s Pizza for a meal and token rewards, and Barnes and Noble bookstore (travel, meal, tokens, and books from B & N incentive awards which requires filling out ‘their’ reading log, are provided and paid for – if you so choose to travel on the school bus!!!) However, we might just have to spend a fun and rewarding day in Guthrie! COVID changed the way we all interact! We will let you know ASAP. Requirements for attending the field trip, from home or afar, are to attend 2 of the 5 programs and read 8 books on level, or for the older readers, every 30 pages read counts as 1 book. Remember, everything counts for reading, which includes books, audiobooks, comic books, magazines, newspapers, cereal boxes, reading aloud, or being read to. Some of the benefits to readers participating in summer reading include: * Encouragement where reading becomes a lifelong habit. * Reluctant readers can be drawn in by the activities. * Reading over the summer helps children retain their skills. Kiddos and students should attend the 2020-2021 age-appropriate program. HOWEVER – we know parents may need their multiple children to attend only one program together and we will try to accommodate this! PROGRAM DATES ARE: JUNE 9, JUNE 16, JUNE 23, JUNE 30 & JULY 7 1:00-1:45 Toddler & Pre-Kindergarten 2:00-2:45 Kindergarten & 1st Grade 3:00-3:45 2nd Grade & 3rd Grade 4:00-4:45 4th Grade & 5th Grade (Questions? Please call us at 806-596-4069 or email jshipman@guthriecsd.net or rferguson@guthriecsd.net) Please complete the transfer interest form below so that we may contact you about a transfer interview. What is your most memorable moment in high school?
My most memorable moment in high school was creating a gang with my best friends. We all got the name of our gang on our senior rings. #stingergang4life What is your most creative excuse you’ve used to get out of doing homework? I always get my homework done, but I tend to procrastinate until the end. Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now? In 10 years from now, I will probably be working in a big city. I imagine myself living on the outskirts of the city in a house that I had built for my family and me. Finish this sentence: “I could not live without…” I could not live without my friends and family. They make my life worth living. Which school tradition are you most proud of? The school tradition I'm most proud of is the senior trip. Coming from a bigger school, I would never get to take a trip like the one I get to take this year. Describe your senior year in three words. Everything I wanted. Finish this sentence: “I will always remember…” I will always remember the welcoming feeling Guthrie brought to me when I moved here. I didn't have much time to be nervous the first day because I already felt like I fit in. What are your plans for the future? I plan on getting my master's degree from Angelo State University, then transferring to Texas Tech to get my doctorate's. I'd like to become an anesthesiologist and work in a city. Any advice for the junior class? My advice to the junior class is to have ambition. Never lose confidence in the things you're passionate about because it is likely that those things are what will take you far in life. What is your most memorable moment in high school?
Regional UIL sophomore year. What is your most creative excuse you’ve used to get out of doing homework? I don’t make excuses. Where do you imagine yourself 10 years from now? Probably at work or at my house. (assuming I own one.) Finish this sentence: “I could not live without…” WiFi or friends. Which school tradition are you most proud of? Always working hard and winning. Describe your senior year in three words. Dang I’m bored. Finish this sentence: “I will always remember…” Not remembering. What are your plans for the future? To work at a place I like that makes a good amount of money. Spending time with friends and family while going on trips. Any advice for the junior class? Make sure to get your work done on time and to have fun. |
