The Lady Jags basketball game v. Aspermont on Tuesday, November 28th, has been moved up to start at 5:30.
The Guthrie Junior High One Act Play participated at Aspermont and came away with first place honors. "Any Body for Tea?" by C. B. Gilford was the top play of the day. Guthrie students and their individual honors were Riley Springer Best Actor, Faith Keasler, Hannah Green, Teresa Doran, and Destiny Worthington were all All District Cast, Zac Ballard, Sheridon Smith, and Coulter Reel were Honorable Mention All Star Cast, and Hadley Ray was Best Lighting Technician. The Pep Rally for the Jaguars will be Thursday, November 16th, at 2:30 pm in the Old Gym. The Jaguars will travel to Hermleigh to take on the Blackwell Hornets at 7:30 pm for the Bi-District Championship. Go Jags!
Monday, November 20th from 11:00-12:15 we will serve our annual Community Thanksgiving Lunch in the school cafeteria. We’d love to have you join us for that feast. Please let Pat Bradbury know you’re coming, if you haven’t already done so.
Several King County 4-H students participated in the District Livestock Contests. In the Junior division, Macy Gilliland placed 30th and Jacob Keasler placed 41st, In the Intermediate division, Faith Keasler placed 22nd. The Senior team placed 6th as a team. Individual placings were Kaleb Brendle 16th, Mary Gilliland 17th, Abby Gilbert 19th, Hanna McCulloch 38th, Rachel Brendle 41st, and Brandon Sweeney 49th. We are very proud of all these students hard work. Go 4-H'ers!
The Guthrie science team of PL Gibson, Shaylee Boger, Brittney Brandon, JJ Gibson, and TK Mays placed 3rd out of 11 teams in the 1A/2A schools division. In individual competition Brittney Brandon was the 1st place sophomore, JJ Gibson was the 2nd place sophomore, TK Mays was the 5th place sophomore, and Shaylee Boger was the ninth place junior. Great job Science team!
The Guthrie Jaguars will take on the Blackwell Hornets on Thursday, November 16th, 7:30 pm, at Hermleigh. The Jaguars will be the visiting team. Gate prices are $4 for adults and $2 for students. Go Jags!

Congratulations to Reagan Maxwell and Nea Vierula! Both Lady Jags competed at the State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock, Texas. Out of 149 runners, Reagan placed 31st and Nea placed 67th. This was the 4th year Reagan has advanced to the State Meet and the first trip for Nea. This was also the first time Nea has competed in competitive sports. We are very proud of their accomplishments. Way to go Reagan and Nea!

District Football begins next week!!! We will be playing the Benjamin Mustangs on Friday, October 27th, here in Guthrie. So... here's the line up:
Tuesday, October 24th: High school will build the bonfire 5:30 (or as soon as practice is complete)-7:30 (we will have a hot dog cook out and make smores) Thursday, October 26th: Chili supper (each class that would like to participate in bringing some school spirit to the table is asked to provide a large portion of chili, cornbread, and dessert). There will be NO contest this year, just a 'good ol' family gathering'. Also, NO DECORATIONS (unless your class wants to). This year's events will be held outside of the Community Center (bathrooms will be available). Please have your goodies to the table by 6 pm. This will be a help yourself style, with tables in a long row. Feeding will be from 6-7:30. We will light the BONFIRE and have a pep rally at approximately 7:30. Friday, October 27th: Guthrie Jaguars vs. Benjamin Mustangs 7:30 at Jach Huey Stadium. LET'S FILL THE STANDS! THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT SCHOOL SPIRIT!! GO JAGS!!! Come join us Saturday, October 28th, for an evening of fun!

Congratulations Lil' Lady Jags! The Guthrie Cross Country teams participated in the District meet Tuesday. The Lady Jags came away with a third place finish and a trip to Regionals. Individual results were Reagan Maxwell 3rd, Nea Vierula 4th, Brylee Smith 10th, Rachel Brendle 27, Mary Gilliland 28, Karlie Van Meter 29, and Abigail Jones 31st.
The JV Lady Jags took home third place honors as well. Individual results were Morgan McCauley 4th, Kaylie Green 8th, Jaycee McCauley 14th, Yaretzi Sandoval 21st, and Emily Rocha 30th. The Jaguars had 2 individual JV runners. Valec Landini was 1st and Damian Landini was 2nd place. Regional Cross Country will be held in Lubbock at Mae Simmons Park on October 23, 2017. Good Luck Lady Jags!!! Thursday, October 12, is Jazz Up the Jaguars Day...as well as school picture day. Be sure to look your sharpest to support our Jaguars and smile big for the camera! Go Jags.
